USA, PGA Championship Experience
15/09/2009-28/09/2009 12 nights
Crystal white sand, superb golf, exquisite dining
and that fantastic Southern hospitality are only a few reasons why
this USA Escorted Tour is a must. Cities such as the historical
Charlestown and charming Savannah with their deep traditions and
rich cultures are not to be missed. Some of the golf in this area
is now regarded as being the best in the world. Hilton Head Island
boasts courses designed by world-class architects and the courses
are definitely designed with first-class quality in mind.

We invite you to join us in what is probably the ultimate
golf tour of Carolina.
The Golf; We are playing three of the great championship
courses in America, Harbour Town Links a annual event on the USPGA
Tour, Kiawah Island Ocean Course seen of that famous Ryder Cup was
it really 17 years ago and the jewel
in the crown Pinehurst No 2. Can you remember the celebrations of
the late great Payne Stewart on the final green. As well as these
three great course we have chosen four other great course, Palmetto
Dunes, Golden Bear, Pinehurst No 8 and 5. So seven rounds of competition
golf over your tour, and I do not think you will be disappointed
in any of them.
The Hotels; We are starting our tour in the Hilton
Head Marriot Resort and Spa, a pristine beach front hotel ready
to offer you exceptional accommodation, award winning dinning and
a lavish spa. For our second stop we move into the
heart of historic Charleston, to the Francis Marion Hotel, gracious
living from times gone buy. opened in 1924 then the largest hotel
in the Carolinas, a 12 million dollar National Trust make over in
1996 has restored this timeless masterpiece to its full beauty.
Our final stop is the magnificent splendour that is Pinehurst, staying
at the elegant Carolina Inn. Step back in time when elegance defined
grand hotels. Built in 1901 it is a National Historic Landmark with
everything first class travellers desire. Evening meals are included
at Pinehurst gentlemen will require jackets.
We both hope you can join us on the exiting tour

The Itinerary :PGA Championship Experience
Day 1
Fly into Savannah and check in to The Park Lane
Inn & Suits Hilton Head Island.
Discover Hilton Heads crown jewel at the Hilton Head Marriott
Resort and Spa. Fresh from an extraordinary Multi Million dollar
makeover, this world class, pristine beachfront resort is ready
to offer you exceptional accommodation. With award winning dinning
and a lavish spa to pamper you after a day striding the fairways
it has been named by travel magazine in the top 500 Hotels in
the World.
Day 2
Day at leisure. Maybe a visit
to Savannah, only 22 miles away. All of the Southern charm and
hospitality characterize this historic town filled with great
restaurants unique shops and legendary stories, past down through
history from the America Civil War. Savannah has retained the
beauty of its past evolving into a cultural playground.
Day3
Palmetto Dunes (Course architect Robert Trent Jones)
Readers of Golfweek Magazine have ranked this par 72 amongst the
best in the Southeast. One of the classic works of the legendary
designer, the Jones offers well-trapped greens and generous landing
areas. A lagoon system winding its way through 11 of the 18 holes.
The signature hole, the par-5 10th brings you a spectacular view
of the Atlantic.
Day 4
Harbour Town Links (Course architect Pete Dye)
Play in the footsteps of legends. Ranked No 1 in South Carolina
by Golf Magazine Harbour Town Links has been home to the USPGA
Tours Heritage Tournament since 1969. This distinguished PGA Tour
golf course places a premium on finesse, imagination, and shot-making
rather than strength. Put your game to the ultimate challenge
against a collection of par-threes ranking among the world finest,
and the much feared and featured 18th hole with the wind blowing
off the Calibogue Sound to the left side of the green. This course
is a crowning achievement of famed designer Pete Dye.
PM a cook out at Seapines (no wine included)
Day 5
Day at leisure time to stroll along the miles of
pristine beach.
Day 6
Golden Bear (Course architect Bruce Borland / Jack
Nicklause)
The Par 72 Golden Bear has a natural elegance that comes from
its blend of classic design and magnificent low country setting
of mature forests and freshwater wetlands. Signature hole No.
18 a 537 yard par 5 with an approach shot over water to a small
undulation green.
PM Check into the Francise Marion Hotel. "When you walk out
of the Francis Marion Hotel early in the morning and turn towards
the sea, all of Charleston looks like it could be a movie set
for a documentary on gracious living" Alex Watson.
The hotel is located in the heart of historic Charleston in Calhoun
St, named after General Francise Marion, the swamp fox of the
American Revolution. Opened in 1924 then the largest and grandest
hotel in the Carolinas. In 1996 after a $12m National trust restoration,
it has once again become a timeless masterpiece of style and luxury.
Day 7
City Tour no visit to the historic Charleston can
be complete without a city tour. There is so much to see, beautiful
historic houses, views over Fort Sumter, here all about the "War
of Northern Aggression" and the battle of independence from
the English. Charleston is one of our favourite places in the
world history and fine dining a great combination.
Day 8
Ocean Course Kiawah Island (Course architect Pete
Dye)
Who can forget those agonising moments watching Bernhard Langer's
ball edge pass the hole to hand the 1991 Ryder Cup back to the
USA.
One of Pete Dyes most superb designs, this course received worldwide
attention after hosting the Ryder Cup and World Cup of Golf in
1991 and 1997 respectively. Golf Digest named it "Americas
Toughest Resort Course" measuring 7296 yards from the back
tees (don't worry we wont be using these !) and the third overall
resort course in the nation.
The Ocean Course has 10 holes that play directly along the beach,
and covers two miles of ocean front dunes. In 2002 Dye redesigned
the final hole repositioning the green against the shore making
a truly memorable finish to your round. This is a must play course.
Day 9
Check in to the jewel in the crown The Carolina
Inn at Pinehurst.
Step back in time, when elegance defined grand hotels. Stately
columns, attendants taking care of you every need, and an entrance
made for drama. The Carolina is all this and more. Built in 1901
it is a National Historic Landmark with everything a first class
traveller desires. Nine restaurants, shopping, wide verandas to
sit and drift back to times gone by, this is the way the warmth
and hospitality of the deep south is meant to be.
Day 10
Pinehurst No 8 (Course designer Tom Fazio)
Opened in 1996 to commemorate Pinehurst's centennial year. This
par 72 Fazio designed course incorporated many of Donald Ross
features into the design. Including dips and swales around the
greens, Sloping greens and false fronts. The greens and tees are
close together, making it a pleasure to walk. As the site of the
PGA Club Pro Championship in 1997 and 1998, it is a proven championship
course that daunts ands delights all who play it.
Day 11
Pinehurst No.2 (Course designer Donald Ross)
This course I am sure will always be associated with the late
great Payne Stewart, finally winning his first major the US Open
on this glorious course.
The challenge is not because of its length, topography, unruly
routing, water features or green size. It is because of the combination
of factors that have made thousands laugh and cry at the same
time. Crowned greens, carefully placed bunkers, strategic layout
that tests both long and short game. It is golf the way it was
meant to be played. "The fairest test of championship golf"
ever designed by Ross. It is the top ten in the USA and the site
of more championships than any other course in the country. Including
the 2005 US Open won by Michael Campbell and the US Open is scheduled
to return in 2014.
PM Dinner in the Carolina restaurant jackets required.
Day 12
Pinehurst No, 5 (designed by Ellis Maples 1961)
Pinehurst and the Maples family are incredibly intertwined, and
more so with this Ellis Maples par 72 design. Opened in 1961 No.5
holds true to a key Ross feature - Mother Nature as the best guide
for architecture. The course has more water hazards to negotiate
than other Pinehurst courses but overall it is a playable enjoyable
18 holes and a fitting end to our Championship experience.
Day 13.
